AWS Shield

AWS Shield is a security service offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). It is designed to help customers protect their applications from common network and application-level attacks.

AWS Shield provides customers with two layers of protection: AWS Shield Standard and AWS Shield Advanced. AWS Shield Standard is automatically enabled for all AWS customers and provides protection against common network-level attacks, such as distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. AWS Shield Advanced is a paid service that provides additional protection against both network-level and application-level attacks, as well as access to expert support from AWS security professionals.

To use AWS Shield, customers simply enable the service and configure it to protect their applications. AWS Shield then monitors their applications for signs of an attack and automatically applies the appropriate protection measures. Customers can also use the AWS Shield console to view and manage the protection of their applications.

One of the key benefits of AWS Shield is its ability to protect against DDoS attacks, which can disrupt the availability of an application by flooding it with traffic. By automatically detecting and mitigating these attacks, AWS Shield helps customers to ensure the availability of their applications and protect their business.
